Hear me out. I know our record with Gasol in the line up has been spectacular. But also consider that before bynum went down, we had a pretty good record with odom and bynum as our frontcourt. Lets try a different angle instead of all these rumors of trading odom. Lets trade Gasol (I know - blashpemy), and just build on what could have been a really good line up last year had Bynum not gone down.

Farmar (we'll probably lose him next year anyways, or if we resign him, our payroll is gonna be off the charts cuz we have to sign bynum the max)
Vlad (shed a long term contract)
Gasol

for

Alston
Scola
Tmac

I think Alston and Scolal would bring a lot of defensive intensity to our team.
And Kobe and Tmac combo is >>>> than Pierce and Ray Allan. And with this line up, most of the contracts expire in 2 years, so you can rebuild for bynum for the future and in the short term give kobe a legit 2 year window frame to get it done. Just imagine what Kobe, Odom, Bynum were able to do last year without Gasol, and now you're adding McGrady. And Scola replacing the loss of Turiaf.

Lakers

Alston / Fisher
Kobe / Sasha / Karl
Tmac / Ariza / Walton
Odom / Scola
Bynum / Mihm / Mbenga
(Assuming Sasha and Mbenga resigns for cheap)

Houston does this b/c they need to try something new. Tmac and Yao is not kobe and shaq and its not gonna work. They will have the best front court in the league with really good sharp shooters surrounding these bigs.

Houston
Farmar / B Jackson / Brooks
Head/ Brent Barry
Battier / Vlad
Gasol / Hayes / Novak
Yao / Landry

who would play center when your maxed out Bynum goes down with another injury or food poisoning? They would be fools to trade Gasol

The idea of T-Mac and Kobe together is mind boggling... If this was five years ago.... EVEN BETTER! man9 man9 man9

why the heck would we trade gasol? for anyone?? it doesnt make any sense what so ever. we have already decidedly built ur team for him and koe to take over the next few years. T-Mac is a B level superstar that needs the ball to dominate a game. we have an A level superstar that needs the ball to dominate the game.
bad bad idea

It's not even explainable how much TMAC is better than Gasoft.

Gasols softness & refusal to step up & take important shots absolutely killed us in the finals. He's a taller LO with no intensity & absolutely 0 defense, horrible rebounder for his size.

Do you really wanna see us make it to the finals again, just to see the entry pass to Gasol then him trying as hard as he can to find someone to pass it out to? the guy was terrified to take a shot

I would personally do this deal in a heartbeat..

LOL

Seriously though, no WAY wer tradin gasol when we havent seen bynum play yet, and def not to another west power. Plus, no point in getting tmac, the guy cant win. True hed be good with kobe next to him, but he doesnt play much defense and he dominates the ball.

I'd much rather see Gasol catch the ball and look to pass than see TMac take the first hard screen from Perkins and him be out for the series cuz he hurt his back.
